Attachment masterclass: The theory and application of attachment in educational settings and organisations
This conference will contribute towards 6.2 and 7.4 of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
About the webinar
This two-hour registered masterclass is specifically designed for all teachers, educators and welfare & wellbeing support staff who have either:
- attended one of our previous attachment introductory conferences or webinars
- attended attachment training with anotherorganisation
- a sound knowledge and understanding of attachment.
Attachment awareness in all educational settings and organisations is critical in identifying the issues involved in supporting children and young people who are recognised as having attachment challenges. Developing attachment awareness with all members of your team will improve attainment, behaviour and the wellbeing of both children and staff within your organisation. This will provide a secure and safe base that will assist you in building and moving towards safe, trusted and secure relationships.
Attendees of this masterclass will:
- expand and develop their initial understanding of attachment, with more complex specific cases, relevant to all educational organisations and those who work within those settings.
- learn how to continue building their awareness of the neuroscience of caregiving that is critical in responding to the needs of children and young people, especially those traumatised and identified or thought of as being at-risk.
- leave with more confidence and practical strategies to assist the cognitive, behavioural and emotional challenges of children and young people, through the use of Circle of Security, mentalisation, preliminary explanations of structural dissociation and a range of trauma informed concepts and interventions.
In this presentation attendees will be asked to reflect on their own attachment history. This will further assist their understanding and application of attachment-related interventions.
