This professional learning is suitable for all teachers and staff within educational organisations and anyone who must have difficult conversations with families and carers as part of their role.

This webinar may provide participants with 4 hours of PD that meets the criteria for Elective PD and meets the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: APTS 7: Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community.

This professional learning will be held over two sessions on Monday 28 August and Monday 4 September 2023. Each session will be held between 3:30pm to 5:30pm.

About the speaker

Mary-Jo McVeigh

Mary-Jo McVeigh, director and founder of Cara House

Mary-Jo is one of Sydney’s best known trauma therapists and a mental health social worker with 35 years’ experience. She is the founder and CEO of Cara House a place of healing and growth that supports children, young people and their families. Mary-Jo has her Honours in Social Science, Masters degree in Social Work and is currently undertaking a research PhD in Social Work at Sydney University focusing on children’s rights and participatory values.

Mary-Jo is acknowledged in her field as an expert on child protection, trauma therapy and leadership coaching. Her expertise has been sought on advisory panels such as NSW Domestic Violence reforms and the Royal Commission into institutional abuse and regularly presents at national and international conferences.
